Scholarship Recipients
FCMC Foundation Awards Record-High 34 Students $55,500 in Scholarship Money
McCONNELLSBURG – An all-time high. The Fulton County Medical Center Foundation awarded 34 local students $55,500 in scholarship money, setting a new mark for the number of students and dollar amounts awarded.“We had a record number of students apply to our Health Careers Scholarship program this year,” said Mike Straley, Executive Director of the FCMC Foundation. “We are honored to award these students a stipend to assist them in their healthcare career paths. The named scholarships are a tremendous boost in awarding these dollars.”
Eleven graduating high school students and 23 college students, including five in post-graduate schools, were awarded stipends ranging from $500 to $3,500 by the Foundation’s scholarship committee.
High School
The 11 graduating high school recipients are:Sosefina Ah Loe (Southern Fulton) received a Fulton County Industrial Development Authority Scholarship. She is will be attending Brigham Young University studying Speech Language
Pathology.
Kailee Gelvin (Central Fulton) received the Brandi J. Mellott Memorial Scholarship. She will be attending Shepherd University’s Nursing program.
Madeline Gordon (Central Fulton) received the E. Loy Garber Scholarship for Therapies. She will be attending Penn State Mont Alto.
Reagan Hixon (Southern Fulton) received the Paul and Louie Stahl Memorial Nursing Scholarship. She will be attending Waynesburg University’s Nursing program.
Maggie Mellott (Central Fulton) received the Clair and Dorothy Miller Scholarship. She will be attending Elizabethtown College’s Physician Assistant’s program.
Dalton Mumma (home schooled) received a Fulton County Industrial Development Authority Scholarship. He will be attending Liberty University, studying biomedical science.
Paige Risbon (Southern Fulton) received a Betty Lea Henderson Nursing Scholarship. She will be attending Allegany College of Maryland’s Nursing program.
Haley Shaw (Southern Fulton) received a Betty Lea Henderson Nursing Scholarship. She will be attending Indiana University of PA’s Nursing program.
Abigayle Smith (Southern Fulton) received a Fulton County Industrial Development Authority Scholarship. She will be attending Allegany College of Maryland’s Pharmacy program.
Mykenzie Vinson (Forbes Road) received a Betty Lea Henderson Nursing Scholarship. She will be attending Allegany College of Maryland’s Nursing program.
Hannah Wolfe (Southern Fulton) received a Fulton County Industrial Development Authority.
College
The five post-graduate college students are:Aiden Barnett (Lock Haven University) was awarded the Dr. William L. Milroth Doctors of Tomorrow Scholarship. He is majoring in Pre-Med.
Carson Elbin (Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine) was awarded the Dr. William L. Milroth Doctors of Tomorrow Scholarship. He is majoring in Pre-Med.
Abigail Heister (U. of Central Florida) was awarded the Russell McLucas MD Post-Graduate Scholarship. She is earning her master’s in Social Work Therapy.
Calli Nesbitt-Covert (Touro University) was awarded the Russell McLucas MD Post-Graduate Scholarship. She is doing doctorate work in Occupational Therapy.
Dayton Pelton (Salus University) was awarded the Russell McLucas MD Post-Graduate Scholarship. He is majoring in Optometry.
The 18 undergraduate college students are:
Samantha Ashkettle (Hagerstown Community College) was awarded a Fulton County Industrial Development Authority scholarship. She is majoring in Radiology.
Rachel Bradshaw (Wilkes University) was awarded a Fulton County Industrial Development Authority Scholarship. She is majoring in Pharmacy.
Morgan Deshong (Miami Dade College) was awarded an FCMC Foundation Scholarship. She is majoring in Nursing.
Drew Gordon (Shippensburg University) was awarded the Patriot Federal Credit Union Scholarship. She is majoring in Dentistry.
Linkyn Harmon (Shippensburg University) was awarded a Fulton County Industrial Development Authority Scholarship. He is majoring Biology Tech.
Christopher “Dane” Harvey (Ohio State University) was awarded an FCMC Foundation Scholarship. He is majoring in Fire Science/Medical Safety.
Olivia Henry (Juniata College) was awarded the Clair and Dorothy Miller Scholarship. She is majoring in Pre-Med.
Ethan Hopkins (Chatham University) was awarded the E. Loy Garber Scholarship for Therapies. He is majoring in Physical Therapy.
Imagine Jansen (Mount Aloysius College) was awarded the inaugural Charles “Pete” Warren Scholarship. She is majoring in Surgical Tech.
Brianna Kylor (Hagerstown Community College/Frostburg State University) was awarded an FCMC Foundation Scholarship. She is majoring in Nursing.
David Maletta (York College) was awarded an FCMC Foundation Scholarship. He is majoring in Nursing.
Lily Mellott (Excelsior University) was awarded an FCMC Foundation Scholarship. She is majoring in Nursing.
Molly Mellott (Saint Francis University) was awarded a Fulton County Industrial Development Authority Scholarship. She is majoring in Pre-Med.
Kylor Morningstar (Temple University) was awarded an FCMC Foundation Scholarship. He is majoring in Nursing.
Bryonna Ross (University of Pittsburgh) was awarded the Jean E. Toms Nursing Scholarship. She is majoring in Nursing.
Libby Skiles (Penn State Mont Alto) received the second installment of the Betty Lea Henderson Nursing Scholarship. She is majoring in Nursing.
Lariah Souders (Indiana University of PA) received the Deborah J. D’Amelio Scholarship for RNs. She is majoring in Nursing.
Nicole Treml (Virginia Tech) was awarded an FCMC Foundation Scholarship. She is majoring in Biomedical Engineering.

The FCMC Foundation’s main scholarship fundraiser is its annual Bluegrass & BBQ each spring. The 11th annual event is set for Thursday, April 9, 2026 at Needmore Bible Church with one of New England’s premiere bluegrass bands - RockHearts.
